Second, from "the great assembly thirsted and yearned, wishing to see Abhirati" onward: this is manifesting the pure land, which is the place where the Great Being wanders and dwells. This has three intents: first, to verify the Great Being's pure land; second, to cause the assembly of the time to generate the practice for the pure land; third, to cause them to make vows to be reborn there. Therefore, this section of the text follows. In this there are seven: first, the great assembly admiring, thirsting, and wishing to see; second, commanding him to manifest it; third, receiving the command and moving it; fourth, the Buddha encouraging the assembly of the time to cultivate practice; fifth, the great assembly generating the aspiration; sixth, having brought benefit, returning to the origin; seventh, Śāriputra's praise. Now, as for "the great assembly thirsted and yearned, wishing to see": having heard above that the land of Abhirati is the Great Being's dwelling place, they therefore single-mindedly thirsted and yearned.
