"According to one's profound mind, the intention is subdued": when understanding and practice are profound, one can then subdue all delusions of phenomenon and principle. Delusions of principle are the ignorance that is confused about the Middle Way. Delusions of phenomenon are the delusions of the three realms that are confused about the two truths. If at the first generation of aspiration one immediately enters the Middle Way and illuminates both of the two truths, mind after mind entering quiescence and naturally flowing into it, one can subdue the delusions of phenomenon and principle. The Benevolent Kings states: "From the initial generation of aspiration up to the vajra summit, a bodhisattva is throughout called enduring through subduing"; this is precisely the meaning of subduing.
