問：此半品及出室兩品，悉佛自說，皆明佛國。其間九品明佛國義，蓋不足言，何得扶成佛國之教？答：佛既始終皆明佛國，淨名其間豈乖佛意？如佛答寶積種種諸行皆淨佛土因，淨名所說種種諸行何得非也？

Question: This half-chapter and the two chapters outside the chamber were all preached by the Buddha himself, and all explain the buddha-lands. The nine chapters in between explain the meaning of the buddha-lands hardly enough to speak of; how can they support and complete the teaching on the buddha-lands? Answer: Since the Buddha from beginning to end explains the buddha-lands, could Vimalakīrti in between run contrary to the Buddha's intent? Just as the Buddha answered Ratnakūṭa that various practices are all causes for purifying the buddha-land, how could the various practices preached by Vimalakīrti not be so?
