問：淨名何以自念寢疾？答：寢既是法身般若，大悲示同眾生緣縛之疾，事既未彰內懷不暢，故寄自念。

Question: Why did Vimalakīrti reflect to himself on lying ill? Answer: Since lying down is the dharmakāya and prajñā, and great compassion shows conformity with the illness of sentient beings' conditioned bondage, since this matter had not yet been made manifest and his inner thoughts were not yet expressed, he took recourse in reflecting to himself.
