As for "Would the World-Honoured One of Great Compassion not bestow his pity?": this is the second [subdivision], reflecting on the Buddha extending his inquiry. I now reside in the causal stage and still grieve for sentient beings, wishing to uproot the suffering of the three kinds of conditioned accumulation, and thus manifest illness myself. The Tathāgata in the fruition stage possesses unconditioned great compassion and constantly desires to bestow the bliss of great nirvāṇa upon living beings, which is far greater than mine; how could he not bestow his pity? If he dispatches someone to come and inquire, I can then relate my feelings regarding the illness. If this intention is made manifest, then the afflictions of cause and effect of sentient beings belonging to the three kinds of conditioned accumulation will all be cured. In this section, sentient beings' illness is cured and Vimalakīrti's is also cured; is this not the Tathāgata's great compassion universally covering all?
