From "Depart" down to "people hear": second, concluding the slander of addition. The intention of this rebuke is that if one says the Buddha has an illness, it is the slander of addition. The dharmakāya has no illness, yet if one says it has, then it has the fruit of illness; a fruit must have a cause, and the cause would be unwholesome. If he has the evil of illness, he would be an evil person; why should anyone take him as a teacher? Since Ānanda is a practitioner, he ought to feel ashamed before his fellow practitioners. If he speaks these words, he brings shame upon the bodhisattvas and the four assemblies of disciples; hence he says, "Do not cause us to suffer this disgrace." As for "non-Buddhists" and so forth: this fully shows that master and disciples would jointly incur disgrace. Furthermore, it would increase the heavy sin of slander committed by misguided people, which must not happen; therefore he tells him to go quickly and not let people hear. If people do not hear, then the shameful matter will not be made manifest, preventing the disgrace of his fellow disciples and the increase of others' sin of slander.
