「所以」下，二、述不堪之由。由往昔為諸長者子說出家功德，被呵彈也。文為二：一長者子問、二羅睺羅答。初文者，佛若在家應作輪王，既出家成佛，羅云在家亦作輪王，而忽出家有何勝利，必有深見，故請問也。

From "Why..." down: second, relating the reasons for not being competent. It was because in the past, when he spoke of the merit of leaving home for the sons of various elders, he was rebuked. The text has two parts: first, the sons of elders ask; second, Rāhula answers. As for the first passage, if the Buddha had remained at home, he should have become a wheel-turning king, but having left home he became a Buddha; had Rāhula remained at home, he would also have become a wheel-turning king, yet he suddenly left home—what superior benefit could there be? He must have had deep insight, and therefore they requested to ask.
