From "Subduing māras" to "fearlessness": fourth, explaining the meaning of the place of awakening in terms of subduing māras and preaching the Dharma. Because the bodhisattva has perfected the contemplative practice, they can subdue the māra enemies. "Subduing māras is the place of awakening": the bodhisattva of the initial mind can subdue the four māras and even the eight māras; seeing that the thusness of the realm of māras is the thusness of the realm of buddhas, this is the true place of awakening, able to dwell in the realm of māras with a mind that is unperturbed. "The three realms are the place of awakening": the bodhisattva of the initial mind does not depart from the three realms and does not cling to the three realms; seeing the three truths of the three realms, they accomplish the king of samādhis and the twenty-five samādhis, and reveal all buddha-dharmas; this is the place of awakening. Knowing that the three realms are empty, there is originally nowhere to go. "The lion's roar is the place of awakening": the lion's roar means definitive discourse; the bodhisattva of the initial mind can destroy doubts and perplexities and see that all sentient beings possess buddha-nature; this is the place of awakening. Speaking of the four causes and effects through the four inexpressibles, responding to capacities to benefit creatures, it is definitive and fearless.
