6.60

「魔即至得去」，三、魔驚懼欲去。本輕持世，欲壞他成已，忽遭淨名發其幻偽，又知非敵必被挫辱，是故驚懼。「欲隱形去，盡其神力亦不得去」者，魔雖有神力，當如法身大士不謀而用，是故盡力亦不能去。

From "The māra at once" to "could not depart," third, the māra is terrified and wishes to leave. Originally slighting Maitreyamaṇḍalaputra, he wished to ruin another to accomplish his own ends, but suddenly encountered Vimalakīrti exposing his illusions and fraud, and knowing that he was no match and would certainly suffer defeat and humiliation, he was therefore terrified. Regarding "wishing to conceal his form and leave, though he exhausted his supernatural power, he could still not depart": although the māra possesses supernatural power, when facing a great being of the dharmakāya who acts without deliberation, he still cannot leave even by exhausting his strength.
