「我言至之會」，二、善得請說。所以請者，善得豈不知說法而為法施？但恐淨名意有深致，故請說也。

From "I said... assembly" is the second part: Śāntamati's request for instruction. As for why he requested it: could Śāntamati not know that preaching the Dharma is the Dharma gift? It was only out of concern that Vimalakīrti's intention held a deeper meaning, which is why he requested him to speak.
