From "Why? ... give rise to attachment" is the second part: the explanation, which is destroying the cause by means of the fruit. The fruit is precisely this body. "The four elements have no master": having no master, they are therefore without self. Destroying the four elements is as explained earlier, based on the *Qǐng Guānyīn jīng*. Saying that it destroys the cause by means of the fruit means that the sūtra explains again: "Moreover, this illness all arises from attachment to self." Because of delusion regarding this fruit, conceiving of a self is foolishness; what accords with the self is greed; what opposes it gives rise to anger. These are craving, grasping, and becoming, and hence there is future birth-and-death, with manifold sufferings without interruption. If one knows there is no master, one does not conceive of a self and give rise to craving, grasping, and becoming; hence it is called destroying the cause by means of the fruit.
