8.48

「即以至弟子上」，二、明散華供養。華者，如《大品》諸天子言「是華非樹生，華是心樹生。」須菩提言「是華非生華，不從心樹生」也。今明是法身菩薩斷於別惑，起萬行之因，感得實報勝妙之果，故言三賢十聖住果報。此華即清淨果報無生之華，淨妙功德無生因華，天女法身菩薩以無分別普散供養諸菩薩及大弟子。

From "Then with... upon the disciples," the second part clarifies scattering flowers in offering. As for the flowers, just as the sons of heaven say in the *Dàpǐn*, "These flowers were not born from trees; the flowers were born from the mind-tree," and Subhūti says, "These flowers are not born flowers; they do not arise from the mind-tree." Now it is clarified that this is a dharmakāya bodhisattva severing the separate defilements and initiating the causes of myriad practices, thereby evoking the wondrous fruition of true retribution; hence it is said that the three worthies and ten sages abide in retribution. These flowers are precisely the unarisen flowers of pure retribution, the unarisen causal flowers of pure and wondrous merit, which the heavenly maiden, as a dharmakāya bodhisattva, universally scatters without discrimination to make offerings to the bodhisattvas and the great disciples.
