From "At that time Vimalakīrti" to "sambodhi" is the third [part], Vimalakīrti entering samādhi to empower the monks. The reason he empowered them was to cause them to recognize past lives and recall on their own that they had once brought forth the aspiration, practiced, and dedicated [merit] toward the great path in the presence of five hundred buddhas.
