From "Thereupon" onward is the second [part], the great assembly going together. The text has two parts: first, the assembly wishes to follow and go; second, Mañjuśrī and the assembly go together. As for the first, the reason they thought of wishing to follow and go is that Vimalakīrti's spiritual wisdom is difficult to respond to, and formerly none among the śrāvakas and bodhisattvas dared face him; now Mañjuśrī's wisdom and virtue are high and far-reaching, and relying on the Buddha's holy command he will certainly discuss the Great Dharma and exhaust its profound depths; therefore, all wished to follow along.
