"Lion Mind" (Siṃhamati): like a lion, he fears nothing, because he has attained the robust mark of the Śūraṅgama. "With outflows and without outflows are two": "outflow" means leaking and falling, giving rise to transgressions that cause one to fall into the three destitute realms. Furthermore, "outflow" means leaking and losing, falling away from world-transcending wholesome dharmas. These two meanings should also be identical: precisely due to losing world-transcending dharmas one falls into the three destitute realms, and falling into the three destitute realms is truly due to losing world-transcending wholesome dharmas. As for "without outflows": not losing the world-transcending [dharmas], seeking to transcend the three realms and enter nirvāṇa is called without outflows. These are also distinct, and therefore are two. Contemplating the nature of outflows and non-outflows, it is a single nature, equal and without differentiation, neither the outflows of saṃsāra nor the non-outflows of nirvāṇa. Without outflows is markless; with outflows has marks. When one realizes this nature, one does not cling to the marks of the two extremes, and enters the nondual Dharma door of the Middle Way.
