Second, from "Next, understanding..." onward, understanding the three chapters. Regarding "Those whose bond of karma has not been severed are born in the pure [land] of common residence": Jingxi says: "It is only that they are able to be born while not yet having severed it; it does not mean that it is entirely unsevered." Regarding "Two kinds of sentient beings come to be born": Jingxi says: "This is stated based on the 'Expedient Means Chapter' and those who have severed the conditioned accumulation of conditions. Because the 'Expedient Means Chapter' only employs two teachings, it is likewise only those who have completely severed [delusions according to] the two teachings who come to be born in that land. In the 'Disciples Chapter', since reproaches are made using three teachings, there are likewise only three teachings [of beings] who come to be born. Thus, though [beings of] three teachings come to be born, upon arriving there they only receive two teachings. In the 'Bodhisattva Chapter', only one kind is said to come to be born because it is spoken from the perspective of where they arrive. Spoken from the true teaching, the accumulation of conditions beyond the realms is precisely the distinct delusion."
