二、「問」下，釋疑，二：初、約時前後釋疑，二：初、疑。「自爾之前」者，爾，此也。「為魔所蔽」者，即於婆羅林外，為六十億魔現佛身廣說法門以惑阿難。佛令文殊宣呪索之，阿難於是得還，委如《大經．陳如品》說。

Second, from "Question" below, resolving doubts, in two parts: first, resolving doubts with regard to the temporal order, in two parts: first, the doubt. "Prior to this": 'this' refers to this [present moment]. "Covered by Māra": namely, outside the śāla grove, sixty koṭis of māras manifested Buddha-bodies and extensively expounded Dharma-gates to delude Ānanda. The Buddha ordered Mañjuśrī to proclaim a dhāraṇī to seek him out, whereupon Ānanda was able to return, fully explained as in the Chapter on Kauṇḍinya of the Mahāparinirvāṇa Sūtra.
