四、異開善。彼用序、正、流通三分之名，而更加證成以為四分，故匪通方。若爾，章安分《涅槃經》為五段，亦應非也。然分節經文貴顯義理，此經三分其義已明，何須至四？《涅槃》經旨非五不彰，況復別立名相，非同開善添足三分之名以為四也。如云「一召請涅槃眾，乃至第五折攝涅槃用」等。

Fourth, differing from Kaishan. He adopted the names of the threefold division of preface, main body, and transmission, but added "confirmation" to make a fourfold division, which is not an all-pervading approach. If so, then Zhang'an's dividing the *Nirvāṇa Sūtra* into five sections would also be wrong. However, dividing the sections of a sūtra is valued for revealing the doctrinal principles; in this sūtra, the three divisions already make its meaning clear, so why must it reach four? The purport of the *Nirvāṇa Sūtra* cannot be revealed without five, not to mention that he established separate names and marks, unlike Kaishan's appending to the names of the three divisions to make four, as in "first, summoning the Nirvāṇa assembly, down to fifth, the subjugating and embracing function of Nirvāṇa", etc.
