Second, explaining the next phrase, which has two parts: first, phenomenal explanation, with two parts: first, briefly explaining the turning of the wheel. Second, from "There are four" down, extensively clarifying non-retrogression, which has two parts: first, direct correspondence with three of the four teachings. If we discern them in detail according to the respective teachings, each has the threefold sense of non-retrogression in stage, practice, and mindfulness, fully as in the subsequent text. Now, according to the general path, the three are matched to the teachings: persons of the common [teaching] sever delusions differently from the six perfections, so there is no retrogression in stage; the distinct teaching emerges from emptiness into the provisional to broadly cultivate sentient beings, so there is no retrogression in practice; the perfect [teaching] severs fundamental ignorance, so there is no retrogression in mindfulness. This puts aside the secondary to take the primary, matching the three senses according to the intent of each teaching.
