二、「若三」下，逐教各辯。「名為跋致」者，具云阿鞞跋致，此云不退。「齊羅漢」者，齊去聲。「圓教」下，約初住位明三不退，以簡別教次第而得。若約不次以明次第，三不退位準別說之。

Second, from "If according to the three" down, discerning each according to the teachings. As for "named bachi (跋致)," the full form is abivanchi (阿鞞跋致, avaivartika), which is translated here as non-retrogression. As for "equal to an arhat," 'qi (齊)' is read in the departing tone (qì). From "The perfect teaching" down, it clarifies the three non-retrogressions in terms of the position of the first abode, so as to distinguish it from being attained gradually in the distinct teaching. If one clarifies the gradual in terms of the non-gradual, the positions of the three non-retrogressions should be stated by analogy with the distinct [teaching].
