Question: If Buddhas do not sever the evil of nature, then the three thousand [realms] of the nine realms in fruition are not diminished; why is it called the principle of myriad goods? Answer: Cultivated evil is already exhausted, but only the evil of nature remains, and this evil is precisely good. As it is said, a clear mirror possesses the nature of ugly images; does that make the clarity itself ugly?
