四、釋經，三：初、釋直心，二：初、總述。「前約教明」等者，荊溪云：前普集經準教修行取法身果，今非無教，但於教行更加悲願成淨土因。

Fourth, explaining the sūtra, in three parts: first, explaining the straight mind, in two parts: first, general narrative. Regarding "Previously elucidated in terms of the teaching, etc.," Jingxi says: "In the previous Puji Sūtra, one cultivated practice according to the teaching to attain the fruit of the dharmakāya; now it is not that there is no teaching, but upon the teaching and practice compassionate vows are further added to complete the cause for the pure land."
