Second, resolving the objection that the middle nine chapters lack the meaning of the Buddha Land, in two parts: First, raising the objection. Jingxi states: The intention of the question is that earlier it was said Jingming assists the Buddha in propagating the transformation, and recently it was heard that previously he universally assisted the direct reward. If so, then here it should specifically reside in the circumstantial reward. Since the circumstantial reward is done for a specific intent, it should be necessary to clarify the circumstantial reward in every place. Although the chapters spoken by Jingming are numerous, if one discusses the circumstantial reward, its meaning is sparse. "It is scarcely worth speaking of": this does not mean it is completely absent; there is only the empty room, manifesting Abhirati, and so forth, which is just a tiny bit. Second, answering and resolving. Jingxi states: The intention in the answer is: why must one speak of the name of a land for it to be the causes and fruits of a pure land? Practice is the cause, and cause will surely incur the fruit—this is precisely its meaning. Why stubbornly adhere to the name?
