二、同小所以。問意者，淨名迹現居士，本是菩薩，二疾已足，何須同小？答意者，普門示現，何障二乘？「復次」下，秖據現為四教菩薩，而通教已攝二乘，以所證同故。二、諸人參問。

Second, the reason for being identical to the small. The intention of the question is: Jingming manifests in his traces as a layman, but fundamentally is a bodhisattva; the two illnesses were already sufficient, so why was it necessary to be identical to the small? The meaning of the answer is: when manifesting through the universal gate, what obstruction is there to the two vehicles? Below "Furthermore," it merely refers to manifesting as a bodhisattva of the four teachings, and the common teaching already subsumes the two vehicles because what is realized is identical. Second, the inquiry of the various people.
