Second, under "this body", he explains sequentially, in ten parts: first, a mass of foam. Regarding the sūtra saying "grasp and rub": the Guangya says, 'Cuō (撮) means to hold.' The Shiming says, 'Cuō means sudden,' meaning to take hold of it briefly. Jingxi says: 'In a mass of foam symbolizing the emptiness of persons, the meaning is clear; but regarding the seeing of the emptiness of dharmas, it is not yet clarified. It is like pouring water into water: water symbolizes real dharmas, while foam symbolizes provisional designations. Only destroying the foam, it therefore only destroys the provisional. Clouds and the like are also like this. If it is like the metaphor of an illusion, the entire substance is an illusion; how could one destroy the illusory person while conversely preserving illusory dharmas? Shadows and the like are also like this. If one sees it like a cause, medicine is formed due to substances. An illusory hare is identical in meaning to foam, and shadows and the like are also like this.'
