Sixth, the Dharma is without agitation. "Agitation" is in the falling tone. Regarding "not relying on the six sense-dusts": Jingxi says: Relying means attaching. If so, does the Tripiṭaka of the Hīnayāna attach to the six [sense-dusts]? Answer: Where there is existence, there is detachment; yet detachment is still like attachment, because one attaches to the non-existence within. For dust and detachment, the two attachments, the name of attachment is no different, just as being bound by gold or iron chains is identical in meaning. Now the Mahāyāna departs from both, because it sees the dharmadhātu of truth and conventionality. When the three—principle and wisdom—unite, one expediently softens the light without merging with the dust; hence it is said "not relying on the six sense-dusts."
