二、隨文釋義，二：初、當起大悲心。二、念報佛恩。「應報至寶種」者，荊溪云：運無緣悲即念報佛恩之大悲也，若報佛恩即不斷種。當知二乘自既斷種亦斷他種，良由不知小三空中無無緣悲，雖終日說，非報佛恩。

Second, explaining the meaning following the text, in two parts: first, one should arouse a mind of great compassion; second, being mindful of repaying the Buddha's grace. Regarding 'One should repay... the jewel lineage', Jingxi says: "Exercising unconditioned compassion is precisely the great compassion of being mindful of repaying the Buddha's grace; if one repays the Buddha's grace, one does not sever the lineage. One should know that the two vehicles, having severed the lineage themselves, also sever it in others; it is truly because they do not know that within the three small emptinesses there is no unconditioned compassion. Although speaking all day long, it is not repaying the Buddha's grace."
