三、聞法得益。荊溪云：準此亦須略說三空，以結淨名巧說之德。以訶說法不應法相、不知根緣，故且云大機。居士發心者，故上破古斥小逗大非關人天。又發心語通諸居士中根緣不同，或是唯圓或是通別，或有圓機宜先通別，或唯通別同座異聞。

Third, hearing the Dharma and gaining benefit. Jingxi says: "According to this, one must also briefly speak of the three emptinesses to conclude the virtue of Jingming's skillful preaching. Because he reproaches preaching the Dharma not according with the characteristics of phenomena and not knowing faculties and conditions, it is provisionally called the great capacity. Regarding the householders arousing the aspiration [for awakening], the above refutation of old [views] by rejecting the small to adapt to the great does not concern humans and gods. Moreover, the phrase 'arousing the aspiration' applies generally to the differing capacities and conditions among the various householders: either solely perfect, or shared and separate, or having a capacity for the perfect that is suited first for the shared and separate, or solely shared and separate, hearing differently in the same assembly."
