二、釋大，二：初、今解，二：初、標。今約所表，故云智大等。若約事釋者，佛弟子中多名迦葉，如十力、三迦葉等，於同姓中尊者最長，故標大以簡之。

Second, explaining 'Great', in two parts: first, the present interpretation, in two parts: first, indicating. Now it is in terms of what it signifies, hence it says 'great in wisdom' and so forth. If explained in terms of phenomena, many among the Buddha's disciples were named Kāśyapa, such as Daśabala[-kāśyapa], the three Kāśyapa brothers, and so forth; among those of the same clan name, the Venerable One was the most senior, hence 'Great' is marked to distinguish him.
