Second, the specific reproach, which has two [parts]: first, dividing into sections. Jingxi says: "Establishing four meanings in the specific reproach is because the reproach follows an orderly sequence from beginning to end. It was known from the start that Kāśyapa formed an intention when he was about to set out for the place to beg for food. Since his initial motivation was already mistaken, later, when the time to reproach came, upon entering the village his mind was bound to be amiss, and thus he could not realize the conception of an empty village. After entering and obtaining food, the food was bound to have faults, which were not due to contemplating the truths; neither was in accord with principle. If one wishes to reproach it, what Dharma should be used? Therefore, gradual and sudden are distinguished to serve as the method of reproach. Phenomena are exhausted and principle is fully plumbed, so it concludes with an exhortation."
