二、「若身」下，引喻比決。「不能用煩惱為佛事」者，二乘可知。前約句既云及別菩薩，今云不能用煩惱等者，荊溪云：正約初住之位也。

Second, from "If the body..." downward, adducing an analogy to make a comparative decision. Regarding "unable to use afflictions to perform Buddha-work," this is obvious for the two vehicles. Since it was previously said in terms of the phrases that it also reaches the bodhisattvas of the separate [teaching], here saying "unable to use afflictions" and so forth, Jingxi says: it is specifically about the rank of the first abode.
