二、「有師」下，別解平等，二：初、古人解義。二、今師研難，二：初、研難示義。文中先以平等並生法。「若直」下，以生法並平等。既許生法與空異，例應平等與空異，是故今師立三空義異。

Second, from "Some masters say" downward, individually explains impartiality, in two parts: first, the ancients' explanation of the meaning; second, the present master's investigation and critique, which has two parts: first, the investigation and critique demonstrating the meaning. In the text, he first compares impartiality with [the emptiness of] beings and phenomena. From "If directly" downward, he compares [the emptiness of] beings and phenomena with impartiality. Since one grants that [the emptiness of] beings and phenomena is distinct from emptiness [itself], by analogy impartiality must likewise be distinct from emptiness; therefore, the present master establishes that the meanings of the three emptinesses are distinct.
