Third, reducing them to being identical with worldly enemies. Regarding "Eunuch" (yānrén): a male who has been castrated. The 'Monthly Ordinances' says: 'In mid-winter, command the head eunuch to inspect the gates and doors and be cautious regarding the bedchambers.' Jingxi says: "It should be termed an emasculating thief. Moreover, it takes the sense of emasculating others, destroying oneself and destroying others, which cannot be cured." Regarding "Also harming..." and so forth: harm is enmity. The preceding text explained the characteristics of harming; this explains what is harmed. Furthermore, the preceding text concerned only the primary cause, hence it said 'seeds'; this is based on the three causes, hence it says 'physical life and retinue.'
