6.63

問：得法眼淨何必在通？答：一代教文俱以得初果益者為法眼淨。通教共地故有小益，既是聞訶益非藏教。

Question: Why must obtaining purity of the Dharma-eye belong to the shared [teaching]? Answer: Throughout the scriptural teachings of his lifetime, those who obtain the benefit of the first fruit are uniformly said to have obtained purity of the Dharma-eye. Because the shared teaching has common stages, it possesses this lesser benefit; since it is a benefit from hearing the reproach, it is not the Tripitaka teaching.
