Second, from "Now in accordance with..." downward provides the actual explanation following the text, in two parts: First, the gate of arising, in three parts: First, dividing into sections. Second, following with the explanation, in three parts: First, determining in terms of the three periods of time. Regarding "bound by the cord of attainment (prāpti)": According to the Sarvāstivāda school, positing attainment through attainment, a later attainment gradually attains a previous attainment, thereby enabling past karma to reach into the future; therefore in the Sarvāstivāda school, karma enters the past while attainment reaches into the future. When the body dies and attainment passes away, the future retribution arises. For example, when a single karma is accomplished, a single great attainment attains the karmic phenomenon. Furthermore, a minor attainment attains the great attainment. In the second instant, three great attainments attain the previous two attainments as well as the karmic phenomenon, because the attainments of the initial thought-moment both become dharmas. Furthermore, three minor attainments attain the previous three great attainments together with the nine dharmas of the first instant, accomplishing twenty-seven dharmas in the third instant. Regarding "Dharmaguptaka": Translated here as Fami ("Secret of Dharma"); it attains the path through seeing emptiness.
