二、隨文釋義，二：初、約無生理破，三：初、歷示訶意，二：初、明無生記位，二：初、略示無生。二、「但三」下，廣明記位，二：初、總誡。二、「三教」下，別示，二：初、釋前三記。「雖未發心」者，未發大心也。二、「通」下，釋無生記。「亦名歡喜地」者，以初見諦心歡喜故，故借別名以名其地。「常住佛果為異」者，荊溪云：此是究竟法身記也。若通教中，唯有八相無法身本，故不名也。故望法身，此為永別。「若智若斷名別教無生」者，借通教名通途用之。「剝葱切葱之異」者，次第斷惑從外至內猶如剝葱，不次第斷內外俱破猶如切葱。

Regarding "although not having generated the resolve": Not having generated the great resolve. Second, from "Shared..." downward explains the prediction of non-arising. Regarding "also called the Joyous Stage (pramuditā-bhūmi)": Because the mind rejoices upon first seeing the truth, the name of the Separate [Teaching] is borrowed to name this stage. Regarding "differing by the eternally abiding Buddha-fruition": Jingxi says: "This is the prediction of the ultimate dharmakāya. In the Shared Teaching, there are only the eight aspects and no fundamental dharmakāya, so it is not named thus. Therefore, relative to the dharmakāya, this is an eternal difference." Regarding "whether wisdom or severance, it is called the non-arising of the Separate Teaching": Borrowing the name of the Shared Teaching to apply it generally. Regarding "the difference between peeling an onion and slicing an onion": Severing afflictions sequentially from outside to inside is like peeling an onion; severing without sequence, breaking both inner and outer simultaneously, is like slicing an onion.
