Third, the assembly of the eight classes, in two parts: first, explaining the meaning based on the present text, in two parts: first, stating and showing; second, from "Great" onward, directly explaining, in two parts: first, explanation. Regarding "great mighty power penetrates through all eight classes": from the devas at the beginning down to the mahoragas at the end, all possess great mighty power. In other texts, the eight classes are all said to be the Four Heavenly Kings each commanding two classes to make eight. The two of the east are gandharvas and pūtanas. The two of the south are kumbhāṇḍas and pretas. The two of the west are piśācas and poisonous nāgas. The two of the north are yakṣas and rākṣasas. The eight classes in the present sūtra differ from this; hence it was said earlier that much is involved.
