Third, Ānanda's shame and remorse, in two [parts]: first, dividing the section; second, following the text to explain, in two: first, the actual shame and remorse; second, the voice in the air comforting and instructing. Regarding "as explained in the Contemplation of Samantabhadra": that sūtra states, "Śākyamuni is named Vairocana, pervading all places." The reason this is cited is that the Great Master intended to show that the voice in the air was Śākyamuni's dharmakāya, not another buddha. Jingxi says: "Question: Which buddha's dharmakāya is this? Answer: All Tathāgatas of the ten directions share one single dharmakāya; how could one speak of whose dharmakāya it is? Yet, non-distinct while distinct, responding to beings through sound, as conditions differ the sounds are distinct; thus it is the body of Śākyamuni's dharmakāya."
