贊曰：寂靜之中，下止惡因，有二：一受善起惡、二性自為惡。此初也。守戒不缺、自惡數悔，他惡不譏、他善能讚。故得果時，其國尚無犯禁之名，何況有見諸犯禁者。

Commentary: Within quiescent pacification, stopping the evil causes below consists of two aspects: first, receiving the good but giving rise to evil; second, one's nature itself engaging in evil. This is the first. Upholding precepts without breach, frequently repenting of one's own faults, not ridiculing the faults of others, and being able to praise the virtues of others: therefore, when the fruit is attained, in that country there is not even the name of violating the precepts, let alone actually seeing any who violate the precepts.
