5.89

讚曰：此中二句。二乘遊五根，自既得已，亦起分別有情諸根勝劣之妙智境；菩薩遊五根，無分別故，不起分別有情諸根之妙智境，雖有根上下力而無分別故。由此舊云「而分別眾生諸根利鈍」。二乘起五力，不求十力；菩薩起五力，而求十力。

Commentary: Here are two clauses. When the two vehicles traverse the five indriyas, having attained them themselves, they also give rise to the cognitive object of wondrous wisdom that discriminates the superiority and inferiority of sentient beings' faculties; when the bodhisattva traverses the five indriyas, because of non-discrimination, they do not give rise to the cognitive object of wondrous wisdom that discriminates sentient beings' faculties, because although possessing the power knowing the higher and lower faculties, they are without discrimination. Hence the older version says, 'yet discriminating the sharpness and dullness of sentient beings' faculties.' When the two vehicles give rise to the five balas, they do not seek the ten balas; when the bodhisattva gives rise to the five balas, they seek the ten balas.
