Fourth, from "Ocean" down, the Perfect Teaching. In what this teaching expounds, worldly characteristics are permanently abiding, so all dharmas are nothing other than the Middle Way. Although like persons of the Distinct Teaching they see the revered and extraordinary body, that [teaching] combines distinct cultivation, whereas here all are inherently possessed by nature; hence the dragon girl says, "The wondrous, pure Dharma body / Possesses the thirty-two marks." Wishing to manifest complete inherent nature, it is designated the Dharma body specifically on account of its superior nature. Therefore, people of this teaching contemplate the suffering and bliss of inherent virtue and give rise to granting and removing; they take poisons and harms that are identical to principle as what is subdued and eradicated; the three causes of cultivated virtue are called the practice of inherent virtue; and the reward and manifestation bodies are immediately called the Dharma body. This is because they wish to efface cultivation through inherent nature: suffering is then immediately removed without removal; poison is immediately eradicated without eradication; practice is immediately cultivated without cultivation; and the Buddha is immediately realized without realization. Ānanda transmitted these unconditioned four truths, which are taught without teaching; therefore, he personally received them from the Dharma-body Buddha.
