Second, the Treatise states, "'World-Honoured One' corresponds to the tenth, so 'Buddha' is the ninth"; this is spoken according to combining them. If "Tamer of Men" is split into two titles, then "Buddha" corresponds to the tenth. Possessing the ten titles completely is called "Honoured in the World"; this is that which can awaken. That which is awakened is precisely the three pairs of dharmas, such as the worldly and so forth. The first pair is evaluated in terms of ordinary and noble: the worldly is the dharmas of the six ordinary destinies, and the supramundane is the dharmas of the four noble beings. The next pair is evaluated in terms of small and great: impermanence is the dharmas of the ordinary and small [vehicles], and permanence is the dharmas of the Great Vehicle. The final pair is evaluated in terms of the conceivable and inconceivable: the six ordinary destinies and the three teachings are enumerations, all being conceivable dharmas; only the perfect [teaching] is not an enumeration, being the inconceivable dharma. These Dharma-gates are clearly and suddenly awakened to in the one mind; hence he is called "Buddha."
