Second, from "Therefore below..." onward: citing text as proof. The sūtra text fully states: "If one enters this sūtra, one enters the dharma-nature. Like the deep dharma-nature, right within the golden radiance of this scripture one will be able to see me, Śākyamuni." This is taking principle as the scripture. The three words "gold" and so forth are different names for the three bodies—Dharma, reward, and response. Along with the one dharma-nature, they are three while identical to one, and one while identical to three. If one knows that this principle is the three bodies, and that the three are neither vertical nor horizontal, this is called being able to see Śākyamuni. Therefore, the Great Sūtra clarifies that the three virtues are neither vertical nor horizontal, which is called the Great Nirvāṇa. "I now dwell securely in these three dharmas, and for the sake of sentient beings, I say that I enter nirvāṇa." Thus we know that unless one realizes the wonderful integration of the three bodies as three and one, one cannot be called having seen the Buddha. Now, understanding that the three Buddhas are integrated and identical like this, one only then accords with the profound and wonderful text of this scripture.
