二、「人天」下，明今廣示，二：初、明教義，二：初、不殺，二：初、明行相，二：初、示相，二：初、正示，二：初、總示五乘命殺。若但不殺，報得命根，斯善甚淺。今辨五乘修因之命，義乃該深。梵云魔羅，此云殺者，以能害人世出世善故。斷下諸命，皆是魔業也。

Second, from 'Humans and devas' onward, clarifying the present extensive presentation, with two [parts]: First, clarifying the doctrinal meaning, with two [points]: First, not killing, with two [parts]: First, clarifying the practice-characteristics, with two [points]: First, showing the characteristics, with two [points]: First, directly showing them, with two [points]: First, generally showing the life and killing of the five vehicles. If one merely refrains from killing the karmically obtained life-faculty, this goodness is very shallow. Now, discerning the life of the cultivated causes of the five vehicles, the meaning is comprehensive and deep. The Sanskrit word is 'Māra', translated here as 'killer', because it can harm the worldly and world-transcending goodness of people. Severing the various kinds of life below is all the work of Māra.
