初、總明。迴邪入正者，令正信因果也。萌，始也，種子之始剖也。卉，草之都名也。鞠，養也。《大論》二十二云「如國王子，在高危處立，不可救護，欲自投地。王乃使人敷厚繒褥，墮地不死。」

First, a general explanation. 'Turning the heterodox to enter the correct' means causing them to have correct faith in cause and effect. 'Sprout' is the beginning, the initial opening of a seed. 'Herbs' is a collective name for grass. 'Nurture' means to nourish. Fascicle twenty-two of the Dazhidulun says: 'Like a prince standing in a high, precarious place who cannot be rescued and is about to throw himself to the ground, the king sends people to spread thick silk mattresses so that he falls to the ground without dying.'
