二、答。須知二往一一地中具諸地功德，十信發真獲十功德，等覺亦進後心十德。此則前後皆霑十益，故約橫竪從容而判。

Second, answer. One must understand that, looking deeper, every single ground contains the merits of all grounds: the ten faiths giving rise to truth obtain the ten merits, and equal enlightenment also advances into the ten merits of the subsequent mind. Thus, the beginning and the end both share in the ten benefits; hence they are evaluated flexibly in terms of both the horizontal and the vertical.
