2.57

初、引諸經事。既得本性染愛法門，故能行於事染之行，亦能示於理染之觀。染觀可例取菩提義，故今略之，但依《華嚴》出事染相。行不污戒者，菩薩名也。先以欲鉤牽者，愛欲如鉤，能牽於人，然後令彼達欲法界，名入佛道。

First, citing the phenomenal events from various sūtras. Having attained the Dharma-door of inherent defilement and desire, they are therefore able to practice phenomenal defilement and also able to manifest the contemplation of the principle of defilement. Since the contemplation of defilement can be understood by analogy to the meaning of bodhi, it is omitted here, and the phenomena of defilement are presented solely relying on the Avataṃsaka [Sūtra]. "Practicing without defiling the precepts" is the name of a bodhisattva. "First luring them with the hook of desire": sensual desire is like a hook, capable of drawing people in; thereafter, causing them to penetrate the Dharma-realm of desire is called entering the Buddha-path.
