初、示其行相。佛說四門，意詮一實。別人根鈍，各執一門彼此隔礙。

First, presenting the characteristics of their practice. The Buddha preaches the four gates, his intention being to express the one reality. Those of the separate teaching have dull faculties and each cling to a single gate, mutually obstructing one another.
