Second, from "Inner fundamental..." onward, entreating the Buddha to protect and shelter. As for "Honoured One among Two-Footed Beings" in the sūtra: the Mahāparinirvāṇa Sūtra, in clarifying the ten epithets, gives two explanations: first, in terms of the good destinies of humans and gods, two-footed beings are noble, and the Buddha is honoured among gods and humans; second, in terms of possessing both merit and wisdom, he is called "two-footed." "Sīxū" (a moment) is like a brief instant. "Fúshū" means flourishing. "Fēngyù" means luxuriant. The Shuowen says: "'Fúshū' means branches and leaves spreading in all directions."
