三、釋值好時難。如劫初閻浮，人壽八萬歲。北洲，壽定一千歲。俱以壽長受樂，不樂修道。欝單越，此云殊勝，勝餘三洲故。

Third, explaining the difficulty of encountering a good age. For instance, in Jambudvīpa at the beginning of the kalpa, the human lifespan was eighty thousand years. In the northern continent, the lifespan is fixed at one thousand years. In both cases, because their lifespans are long and they enjoy pleasure, they take no delight in cultivating the Path. Uttarakuru is translated here as 'exceptionally superior', because it surpasses the other three continents.
